Not every Illinois contractor
can legally work in Wisconsin.

We can. Rockford Siding & Windows LLC holds an active Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor license — so the crew on your roof is there legally, with the permit pulled in your name.

Why this matters more than the drive

If you live in Beloit or Janesville, you already know how close Rockford is. That was never the question.

The part most homeowners don’t know is this: a contractor cannot simply drive across the state line and start working on your house. Wisconsin requires a Dwelling Contractor certification before a business can take out building permits on one- and two-family homes. Plenty of Illinois contractors never bothered to get one.

We did. That is the difference between a company that can pull your permit, meet your inspector, and stand behind the work — and one that quietly hopes nobody asks.

We are a licensed Wisconsin contractor. We can cross the state line, pull your permit, and do the work — legally, and under our own name.

The questions we actually get

What does a Dwelling Contractor license actually cover?

It is the credential Wisconsin requires of a business before it can obtain building permits for work on one- and two-family dwellings. Without it, a contractor cannot legally pull the permit your roof replacement needs.

Who pulls the permit, me or you?

We do, in whichever municipality your home sits in, and we meet the inspector ourselves. Requirements differ between Beloit, Janesville, and the smaller Rock County townships. That is our job, not yours.

If something goes wrong, are you coming back?

Yes. Same address, same phone number since 1994. Our workmanship warranty does not have a state line written into it, and a callback in Beloit is a shorter drive for us than one on the far side of Rockford.

How fast can you get here after a storm?

Rock County is our closest Wisconsin market and the one we reach fastest. Walworth and Dane County are a longer drive, and we will tell you honestly what our schedule looks like rather than promise a window we cannot hold.
